British Birds: Magpie

British Birds: Magpie

Magpies are known for their bouncy gait and their population in the UK has almost quadrupled in the last 35 years – largely due to them being opportunistic and adaptable food scavengers. There is much superstition surrounding magpies, with people saluting, rhyming and tipping their hats to respect the bird.

This print is part of a series of my favourite British Birds, with the original drawn in ink and painted with watercolour highlights.
10% of the profits from each print sold will be donated to the RSPB.
